The Pinophyta, also known as Coniferophyta or Coniferae, or commonly as conifers, is a division of vascular land plants containing a single extant class, Pinopsida. They are gymnosperms, cone-bearing seed plants. All extant conifers are perennial woody plants with secondary growth.
